Russian National Award "Laurel Branch" presentation took place in Moscow on December, 12. "Life with Bacteria", new documentary of "Nauka" TV channel, won the prize in the nomination "The best popular science, educational film (named after Lev Nikolaev)".
The factual entertainment project "Life with bacteria" tells about Russian microbiologists achievements. Young scientists are discovering new kinds of microorganisms, creating environmentally friendly kinds of fuel and looking for the ways to stop environmental pollution with the help of bacteria.
The premiere of the documentary was held on May 25, 2017 (in honor of the International Day of the Biologist) for a large biological audience of Moscow State University. Also, the film premieres took place in the framework of the festival "Volgafest" in Samara, in Novosibirsk, Ufa, Kaliningrad, Voronezh (the festival "My planet, People’s Planet"), St. Petersburg ("Geek Picnic"). Moreover, the film won the special prize at the festival "Russia" in the nomination "For the bright embodiment of scientific research by young scientists".
The film was created with the financial support of "Russian Geographical Society" and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
"Laurel branch" – Russian National Award in the field of non-fiction movies and television, founded in 2000. The form of the prize is a bronze statuette "Laurel branch" by sculptor Vadim Kirillov. In 2017, 548 films took part in the competition program, and only 15 projects were chosen into the short list.
